19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
